The most recent recording from the Susan Krebs Chamber Band comprises a mix of musical genres imbued with a jazz sensibility. The music was developed in ThemeScene salons hosted by Krebs in which she and a small group of her close friends – some of Southern California’s finest jazz musicians – get together in front of an invited audience to explore various motifs through wide-ranging music, poetry and improvisation.
The overarching concept that binds this album’s seven tracks is renewal. The music is a conversation between kindred spirits with a shared musical vision. It is suffused with Krebs’ reverence for nature and hopeful vision for growth and change.
Susan Krebs' two previous recordings, Simple Gifts (2015) and Everything Must Change (2012) are the journey bringing us to the present Spring: Light Out of Darkness.
