trio WoRK

Ken, Tom and Susan were mutually smitten on their first serendipitous gig together – and so, trio WoRK was born! Following their debut album in 2018, “trio WoRK”, comes their 2nd album, “Dancing in the Dark” , releasing in 2023.

This recording marks Trio WoRK’s fifth year as a working trio. Playing throughout the pandemic in backyards and on patios, they “danced in the dark”! With an expanded repertoire and deepened synergy, they headed into the studio shortly after lockdown eased, resulting in this new Trio WoRK recording, Dancing in the Dark – an eclectic and engaging mix of standards and more obscure tunes.

Bassist KEN WILD is a founding member of the heralded band SEAWIND. For decades, he has been an active studio musician, working in TV and film as well as musical theater, recording with Clare Fischer Big Band, Harvey Mason and Tierney Sutton, and performing live with Dianne Reeves, Terence Blanchard, James Moody, Herb Ellis, Johnny Mathis, the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra among many others. www.wildmusic-jazz.com/kw.htm

One of LA’s most versatile guitarists, TOM RIZZO has played with Blood, Sweat and Tears, Maynard Ferguson, Brian Wilson and Natalie Cole to name just a few. He was the guitarist for the Tonight Show Band for 10 years and played for Don Severinsen’s jazz group Xebron. A longtime composer, Tom has written for commercials, radio, film and TV – including for “In Living Color”, where he and Ken Wild first worked together. www.tomrizzomusic.live

The three celebrate one of the great joys of music making in Los Angeles: the opportunity to meet serendipitously at a single gig and create an indelible musical chemistry that collectively takes the musicians into depths of their artistry explored in no other outlet… pure lightness and freewheeling magic in each re-imagining.”
